What is TRC?
The Residency Card (TRC*) or Vietnamese residence permit acts as an identity card and entry visa to Vietnam. This document is issued by the Vietnamese immigration authority to a foreign person who is allowed to reside in Vietnam for a certain period of time.
It allows you to save a lot of time and money on visa applications and visa renewals while residing in Vietnam. Resident cards can be issued from 1 to 10 years to an investor, shareholder, foreigner who has obtained a work permit in Vietnam, accompanying relatives (father, mother, wife, husband and children under 18 years of the person who has obtained a resident card).
The resident card will not be issued to people whose passports validity is less than one year.

Who can get a residence permit in Vietnam?
Not all foreigners who intend to stay in Vietnam can apply for TRC as it depends on their visa type. Only foreigners who have been issued LV1, LV2, ĐT, NN1, NN2, DH, PV1, LĐ, TT visas can obtain a TRC.
The validity period of TRC depends on the purpose of entry, visa type, application and passport validity - 2 years for work visa (with LĐ symbol), 5 years for investor visa (with ĐT symbol). From 1 July 2020, the maximum TRC validity period for large investors is 10 years.
